Guwahati: The Assam Congress will protest against the entry of Delhi Police into the party headquarters. Criticizing the Delhi Police for allegedly entering its national headquarters, the Assam Congress on Wednesday announced a series of protests across the state for the next two days.

Addressing a press conference here, Assam Congress president Bhupen Kumar Bora described the events of the day as “a dark chapter after India’s independence, initiated by the BJP rule at the Center”. ” We are shocked and saddened that the Delhi Police entered the Congress headquarters in New Delhi and beat up many of our comrades. This has not happened anywhere in the country,” he added.

Bora alleged that Delhi Police had occupied the office rooms of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and insulted the workers.

The BJP is showing its one-sided and dictatorial attitude by disrespecting India’s multi-party democracy. To protest against this, all the state Congress parties across the country will hold demonstrations in front of Raj Bhavan tomorrow at 11 am.
The head of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) said that protests would be staged in front of DC offices in all districts across the country on Friday.

If the BJP and Narendra Modi think that they can take over the Congress office with the help of the police, then they are living in a fool’s paradise.
Earlier in the day, Bora, other Assam Congress leaders and several activists were detained by Assam police as they protested against the interrogation of Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case.

While chanting slogans and chanting slogans against the BJP-led government, Congress workers tried to march on the arterial Guwahati-Shillong road from the state party headquarters Rajiv Bhawan near Bhangagarh area.
He was handcuffed and Himangshu Das, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dispur, suffered minor injuries.

“He was allowed to go home after first aid at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital,” a senior official told PTI.

“Assam police tortured us today. They can arrest us, but they cannot silence us,” Bora said.
