Guwahati: Amid speculations of a series of electoral defeats and differences within the party legislators of late, the opposition Congress in Assam is now seeking to amend the Karbi Anglong Independent Council (KAAC) elections and regain lost ground. Is trying to Will be held next June 8.

On Friday, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) announced that it would contest alone in all the 26 constituencies of KAAC, which are spread across Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.
Addressing a media conference at the party headquarters here, APCC working president Rana Goswami announced the names of candidates for 22 constituencies, while the names of four others are currently pending.

The party leadership and members have nominated 22 candidates after reviewing the report of the screening committee and interacting with local leaders and residents during the APCC members’ Kirby Angling visits. A series of thread talks have been held between senior leaders and members in the blocks, districts and other units of the party, “Goswami said.
