Meghalaya TMC leader Mukul Sangma has said that if he comes to power, he will terminate the border agreement with Assam. Meghalaya TMC leader and former chief minister Mukul Sangma has said his party will end the recently signed border agreement between Meghalaya and Assam if it comes to power next year.
“We are determined to see that if we vote, it will be abolished,” said Mukul Sangma.
“Terminate Assam border agreement , Any talks between the two governments are not in line with the expected line of agreement,” he said.
The former Meghalaya chief minister added: “Whatever is decided in the bilateral talks and subsequent agreement is not acceptable to the people of the state.”
When people are not accepting it, then why is it imposed on our people? It is the responsibility of politicians and party members to defend their people, ”said Mukul Sangma.
Mukul Sangma said efforts were being made to stifle people’s desire to fight the border issue and the two governments agreed on it.
“This is highly reprehensible and should be stopped. When I say that the present government is becoming a puppet of the Assam government, I am being told bluntly and because of what has happened, Assam has every right to be happy. Are they trying to put pressure on the affected villages now? They cannot be involved in atrocities against our villagers, ”Sangma insisted.
