The Cachar district administration has set up temporary camps to provide shelter to people displaced during the ongoing clashes in Manipur and those who entered Assam after crossing the Jiri river.
So far 8 new camps have been set up for accommodation as the number of people has increased to 2000.
As per the instructions of Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Cachar district administration has taken care of all the facilities including providing food, medicine to the people taking shelter in the camps.
The Cachar police, led by SP Numal Mahatta, along with the Assam Rifles and CRPF, are conducting regular patrolling, maintaining control over the area along the border to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.
The district police along with security personnel are working round the clock to ensure the safety and security of the displaced people.
The displaced people who have taken shelter in Assam thanked Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma and the Assam Government and Cachar District Administration for all the help and support provided to them.
