Tawang Festival : cultural festivals in Arunachal Pradesh

Tawang Festival, one of the most vibrant cultural festivals in Arunachal Pradesh, is back with another edition.

The eighth edition is scheduled to be held from 28 to 31 October 2022 at the hilly venue, and will be a dynamic, entertaining event.

The director of the festival, Tseten Chombay, spoke more about this during the opening meeting of the Tawang Festival, saying that this time there will be no compromise in the preparation and execution of the festival.
The festival is taking place after a gap of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and no effort will be spared to make it a must-see event.

Chombay added that he has proposed hosting village tours for visitors, to encourage villagers to adopt self-sufficiency.
According to the state report, the festival is a roadmap of the state government aimed at achieving sustainable tourism.

“The festival should now be commercialized so that unemployed youths and others can benefit from the platform provided to them during the three-day event,” said Tawang lawmaker, Tsering Tashi.
The village tour program is also designed to increase the income of the local villages and push them towards livelihood in the near future, but for now, the festival committee will take care of tourist promotion and facilitation.

Discussions are underway with stakeholders to make Tawang Festival a smooth, relaxing and fun journey, introducing people to the local people’s ways, mountain life, food, culture, music, arts, dance and more.
