Itanagar: The Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum (AITF) has called on the state government to take immediate action against the large-scale influx of illegal immigrants into Arunachal Pradesh.
The forum expressed grave concerns over the security, demographic, and socio-economic implications of this trend.
The AITF stated that there was involvement of illegal immigrants in sex rackets and other criminal activities.
They demanded for intensified checking of Inner Line Permits (ILPs) to stem the flow of unauthorized entrants.
The organisation further stated that the influx was a significant threat to the state’s existence and has urged the government to increase vigilance at all entry points and deploy sufficient forces to drive out illegal immigrants.
The AITF has also recommended that ILP-issuing authorities implement foolproof mechanisms to prevent unauthorized permits.
