Suspected Kuki militants attack in Bishnupur, 2 CRPF jawans killed

Imphal: In a tragic incident of violence, two CRPF jawans lost their lives in a suspected Kuki militants’ attack in Narayansena region under Bishnupur district of Manipur.

According to the police, the attack took place at midnight and persisted until 2:15 am of Saturday in the area.

The deceased CRPF jawans belonged to the 128th battalion of the paramilitary force.

According to reports, Kuki armed groups allegedly opened fire toward a village, within the jurisdiction of the Moirang police station in Bishnupur district of Manipur in the wee hours of Saturday (April 27).

The bomb, fired by the armed groups, fell and exploded inside the outpost of B/128 Bn CRPF.

Further, the explosion resulted in injuries to four personnel: Jadav Das, N Sarkar, Arup Saini and Aftab Hussain.

Later, N Sakar and Arup Saini succumbed to their injuries.

Manipur is witnessing steady climb of violence again with several reports of such incidents. On April 13, 2024, two armed persons from the Kuki-Zo community were killed in an ensuing gunfight with armed Meitei/Meetei groups in the periphery areas of Imphal East and Kangpokpi districts.
This incident occurred at Moirangpurel and Phailengmol villages just ahead of the proposed rally of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the state.
