Sushila Chanu and Naorem Devi of Manipur earns Arjuna awards

Imphal: Manipur’s Pukhrambam Sushila Chanu, a player of the Indian women’s hockey team, and Naorem Roshibina Devi, a wushu athlete, were among the 26 Indian athletes from various fields who were conferred with the prestigious Arjuna Award by President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. Awarded 2023.
The award is given for his extraordinary achievements and contribution to the world of sports for India.
Pukhrambam Sushila Chanu won a bronze medal at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China in 2023.
A bronze medal at the 22nd Commonwealth Games to be held in Birmingham, UK in 2022; and a gold medal at the 2022 FIH Nations Cup in Valencia, Spain.
Naorem Roshibina Devi has a silver medal to her credit in the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China in 2023. A silver medal at the World Wushu Championship held in Texas, United States of America in 2023; and a gold medal at the 2023 Moscow Wushu Stars Championship to be held in Moscow, Russia.
On being honored with the prestigious Arjuna Awards, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said in his X tweet, โ€œSushila Chanu, you have carried forward Manipur’s legacy of sports talent with your hard work and dedication, bringing thousands of more individuals are encouraged to follow the lead.Best wishes to you all in your future endeavours.
Further, the Chief Minister said, โ€œVushu champion Ms. Naorem Roshibina Devi has made the nation proud by bringing name to the country and receiving the prestigious Arjuna Award 2023.
You have proved the caliber of our state players with your hard work and dedication. Best wishes for your future endeavours.”
