Sushanta Ch:Tripura to start International flight operation from June

Agartala: Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhary said on Friday that international flight services from MBB Airport Agartala are expected to start in June this year.
“The wait is now over. International flights between Agartala and Chittagong, Bangladesh are scheduled to start in the first week of June this year. All preparations are being made to make this new airway link sustainable. “The State Government will bear the Viability Gap Fund of Rs 15 crore annually to ensure that the airline companies do not break the contract midway. Spicejet has signed the contract and soon our airport will be officially opened. But with this new beginning it will get the tag of an international airport,” the minister said at a function organized to resume cargo services at MBB Airport, Agartala.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chowdhury said, “Our Prime Minister has a vision for the entire Northeast. Under his able leadership the country is making new progress in all sectors and our small state of Tripura is touching new heights in the field of connectivity.
About cargo services, he said, “There was a long-pending demand to resume cargo services but as elections were around the corner, the government could not focus on cargo services. With the help of the Airports Authority of India, this new cargo The terminal has been set up with an investment of Rs 17 crore.Now this fully functional terminal is ready to provide the required services.
According to the minister, the cargo services will greatly help the state to promote its products in the global market. “This cargo transport service is of great importance. Today Tripura is exporting many of its domestic products like ginger, pineapple and many others. The availability of air connectivity is a boon to the state’s export potential as it reaches national and international markets. More access will be possible,” the minister added.
