Survey of Diseases, Updating Health Data Needed: Manipur Health Minister

Imphal: Manipur Health and Information and Public Relations Minister Dr Spam Ranjan Singh on Thursday said that a survey of various diseases is needed and its latest data needs to be maintained.

Minister Ranjan was the chief guest at the inaugural program of a one-day orientation program for nurses on ‘Prevention of Developmental Disabilities, Early Identification and Early Intervention’ held at RIMS Mini Auditorium in Imphal West.
He said that majority of common people do not know their health condition. Regular checkups and health updates will help reduce life risks and costs. The minister said that precautionary measures would help in bringing a good healthcare system.

Minister Ranjan said that the departments of health, social welfare and education need to work together.

He further said that nurses have a very important role to play in the healthcare system and advised them to perform their services with sincerity and dedication. They must acknowledge that they have a role to play. He added that trainee nurses should also get ideas after every training or seminar and share knowledge with others.
Speaking as the President on the occasion, Prof. Dr. A. Shanta, Director, RIMS, said that the disability of an individual may be due to negligence of the mother during pregnancy. “Whenever we are indiscreet during this stage, we ought to know about the potential results,” he said.
Brogan Singh Aquaculture, Dean (Academic), RIMS, Imphal, Dr. Sheikh Yaseen Sharif, Assistant. Professor, CRC, Devanagari, NIEPID Manipur State Coordinator, Rajendra Kumar, Parveen, Assistant. Professor, Special Education ERC Rajnandgoa, NIEPID Manipur State Coordinator also attended the program.
