Student found dead in IIT-Guwahati hostel room, suicide suspected
Guwahati: Another student of the Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IIT-G) in Assam was found dead inside a hostel room on Monday morning.
According to reports, the deceased was identified as Bimlesh Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
He was a third-year B.Tech Computer Science student.
It has been alleged that Kumar may have died by suicide.
His dead body was found in his hostel room at the Brahmaputra Hostel located inside the IIT-G campus.
While the police have investigated the matter, it is not yet known why he may have chosen to take the extreme decision.
It may be mentioned that this is the recent such incident in a month.
Last month, on August 9, an M.Tech student was found dead inside a hostel room.
The deceased identified as Saumya was also a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
The back-to-back incidents have raised concerns about the mental health of students at IIT Guwahati, prompting calls for better counseling and support systems.
Police are working with institute authorities to investigate the situation thoroughly.
