Arunachal (Pasighat): Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday initated a 4-day women bike drive at Pasighat in East Siang district.
Despite being rich in natural flora and fauna, the state is still one of the least explored regions of India. To attract the attention of tourists from all over the world, the state tourism department has announced a digital campaign through the journey of four women bikers.
The campaign will feature India’s famous women bikers riding Ducati Multistrada, riding along well-paved wide roads through quiet, safe and secure checkpoints.
Among the bikers on board is Candida Louis, an Indian adventure tourer who recently went on an incredible solo bike ride from Bangalore to Sydney. Maral Yazerloo, an Iranian-Indian world record holder in motor biking and is also the founder of Lady Riders of India. Kalyani Potekar who is known as the fastest biker and has toured many places on her bike including parts of the Himalayas. and Tenzin Metoh, a native of the state, an adventurer known locally for his amazing biking skills and social work.
Initiating the campaign, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said, “It is a proud moment for us to promote women empowerment and safety for solo travelers within the state. With this campaign, we want people to Learn more about our state, showcase the ease of travel, and promote tourism, which will help boost the local economy and people’s livelihoods in the state. We would like to present the beauty and its rich culture to the whole country and the world.”
About the women’s biking campaign, Bipul Chandra, Managing Director, Ducati India said, “We are excited to be a part of the first women’s biking campaign in Arunachal Pradesh. Come here to witness the beauty of the state. We are humbled and happy. I would say Arunachal Pradesh should be at the top of every traveler’s bucket list. We would like to extend our best wishes to the riders and look forward to more such events in the future.
Mudia Pass, also known as the Hidden Shangri-La of Arunachal Pradesh, is famous for its snow-capped mountains and tourist hotspots. Jairampur is known as the site of a World War II cemetery with a large burial ground containing about 1,000 graves of Allied soldiers believed to be mostly Chinese, Kachin, Indian, British and There were American soldiers who were martyred in World War II. Officials believe that these hidden places have a lot to offer and this is an opportunity for travelers to enjoy the essence of this northeastern state.
The campaign focuses on bringing Arunachal Pradesh real, raw and local.
During the four-day campaign, the bikers will explore the natural beauty of the state. They will visit and spend time with the indigenous tribes of the state, try local cuisine and participate in local cultural dances.
After flag-off, bikers head to Namsai to see the splendor of the Golden Pagoda, followed by a visit to Rima Village. The next day, the contingent will begin their journey to Namdapha National Park and Tiger Reserve and explore the wildlife of Arunachal Pradesh.
Bikers will also witness a one-of-a-kind orange festival in Dambuk in the Lower Dibang Valley, known for producing one of the best quality oranges in the country. It is India’s first adventure and music festival.
The Orange Festival will feature adventure activities like zip lining, dirt biking, para motoring, hot air balloons and camping. The festival has an enviable line-up of live bands and will also feature local cuisine and locally produced wines.
With this campaign, Arunachal Pradesh tourism is all set to open its doors to the world and experience the towering hills, picturesque landscapes, mesmerizing natural surroundings, waterfalls and monasteries to come. Most importantly, the campaign will encourage travelers to visit, explore and experience the region to the fullest.
