State champion Arundas Singh won Akhrol’s first snooker tournament

Ukhrul: The three-day open pool and snooker tournament ‘Break Free’ ended on Wednesday at the Ukhrul District Headquarters at SAM Food Court, Viewland . The event was organized by Team Collective Events (T-Coleve) in association with SAM Group.

Arundas Singh, the Manchester State Open snooker champion, teamed up with Atiboy Raleng, a local player from Hunphun village, to win the Open Pool Double. Singh also clinched the title of snooker champion and remained the runner-up.

The tournament was attended by 24 players from across the district and a few from the state capital, Imphal.

The closing ceremony was attended by MCS Chunglenmang Kipjen, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul as Special Guest, Raimeson WS, Informatics Officer, Department of Information Technology, Ukhrul District, and V Tunzasiam, Manager, UCO Bank, Ukhrul Branch as Special Guest.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Kipjen gave a lot of encouragement to the local youth who organized the event.

Kipjen further elaborated on the name of the tournament, ‘Break Free’, which invites young people to stay away from anti-social behavior and drug use.

Speaking about the event, Rinlungso ZAS, director of the T-Coleve event, said: “Despite being a relatively good sport in the Cue Sports District, we’ve been seeing local pool and snooker enthusiasts for some years now.”
