KOHIMA: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its election 2023 manifesto, which was released by party national president JP Nadda at the state party headquarters on Tuesday, has promised that if it comes to power, Eastern Nagaland Will provide special package for development.

Nadda said the party is also committed to setting up the Eastern Nagaland Development Board for the all-round development of the region.
He said that the party will also work for the provision of budget in proportion to the population of Eastern Nagaland. The party also assured to speed up the construction of Trans-Nagaland Highway.

The BJP also promised to ensure timely completion and commissioning of the Mon Medical College, and speed up the construction of the Government Polytechnic in Kiphire district.

For these areas, the party said it would also work for the overall development of villages along the Indo-Myanmar border.

Additionally, the party assured to set up handloom and handicrafts clusters in every district of Eastern Nagaland.

Nadda said that the promises made by the Union Home Ministry cannot be spelled out because of the model code of conduct, but the party is committed to implement the assurances.
In its manifesto, the party has also promised to set up a dedicated Nagaland Cultural Research Fund with an investment of Rs. 1000 crores to promote research, conservation and preservation of languages ​​and culture.

The party also assured to set up Saramati Cultural University in Kiphire with an investment of Rs. 500 crore more, an investment of Rs. 100 crore has been assured to promote and expand the scope of all major tribal festivals.
To empower women, the party also assured to introduce the Neidonuo Angami Women’s Welfare Scheme, under which a bond of Rs. 50 thousand rupees will be given on the birth of a girl child.
It was also promised to provide free, quality education to all female students from KG to PG. The party also promised to launch a mission to empower Temsula Ao to encourage the formation of more women’s SHGs and provide credit linkages to them.

The party also promised to launch the CM Free Scooty Scheme to provide free scooty to meritorious college going girls.
Rs 200 crore has also been pledged for setting up a dedicated maternal and child care unit in all district hospitals.

As far as the youth is concerned, the party promised to create 2 lakh self-employment opportunities in the next 5 years through the establishment of software technology parks, agro-processing textiles, MSMEs, tourism etc.
A Rs 500-crore Nagaland Skill Development University has also been promised, while the Dr Talimeren Ao Sports Scholarship will be introduced to recognize aspiring athletes.
In healthcare, the party has promised to double the annual insurance cap per family from Rs. 5-10 lakhs under Ayushman Bharat. BJP also promised to invest Rs. 500 crore to double the number of beds in all government hospitals and increase the presence of day care clinics in the state.

Additionally, the party assured to ensure 100% direct benefit transfer coverage for all government schemes. These were among other assurances and promises made by the party.
