SOREPA and KYKL member arrested from Manipur's Kakching

Imphal: Security forces on Monday night arrested a former member of the banned Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL) and Socialist Revolutionary Party (SOREPA) in Manipur’s Kakching district.

Acting on intelligence information, the jawans of the Phundrei Battalion of the Assam Rifles along with the Manipur Police Commandos of the Kakching Police Station conducted a joint operation on a hideout in Sugnu.
During the operation, the team arrested a man identified as Moirangthem Shyam Metei alias Milan, a resident of Wapokpi, near the petrol pump, Sugnu.
The arrested rebel is accused of involvement in large-scale extortion.
He has been handed over to Sugnu police station for further legal action.
