Snake in India vs SA Cricket Match
Snake in India vs SA , Chaos once again reigned at the ACA Barsapara Stadium here during the second India-South Africa T20I on Sunday.
If a snake slithering across the field during India’s innings wasn’t enough, the worst came when the stadium went into partial darkness during South Africa’s chase of a mammoth target of 238, leading to the second interruption of the match.
Just after Deepak Chahar’s first ball in the third over as South Africa piled up at 5/2, play was halted after one of the four floodlight towers collapsed, halting play for 18 minutes.
All the players went back to the dressing room and it took about six minutes for the lights to slowly turn on one by one before play resumed.
Blaming it on a “technical glitch”, Assam Cricket Association secretary Devjit Saikia told PTI: “We have three parties handling the power side which is our own 25-member team, a third (out Source) Party and State Electricity Dept. It was probably a voltage problem, some technical glitch.
Saikia said ACA has used a generator set to power the match and is not dependent on power supply from the electricity department.
The media contingent also faced similar problems before the match as the lights were off for a few overs of the match as it took hours for officials to figure out the fault.
Earlier during India’s innings, it was the snake’s turn to stop play for nearly five minutes in a rare sight during an international match.Snake in India vs SA 2nd T20I, unnoticed hole to scare Wayne Parnell into the extra cover area. It then slipped into the square area.
Groundsmen then came and confined him in a bucket.
It was during the last international match here, that venue mismanagement made headlines when the first India-Sri Lanka T20I in January 2020 was abandoned after the pitch was flooded despite being covered by three layers.
