Assam: The Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), which recently threatened Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over the alleged torture of pro-Khalistani prisoners in Dibrugarh Jail, on April 4 the banned United Liberation Front of Assam-Independent (ULFA- I) was asked to initiate an action of freedom movement.
In a letter to the ULFA-I, SFJ president Gurpatwant Singh Pannu supported Assam’s secession from India.
Pannu said that taking a cue from the global Khalistani referendum launched by the SFJ for the Balkanization of India, the ULFA-I should follow suit and launch an independence referendum on whether India annexed Assam. It is a free country.
“Considering that the Assamese people have the right to self-determination under international law, appreciating their determination and sacrifices for the pursuit of independent metal and for the ULFA-l: dedication, strength, Discipline, popularity, and organizational setup, ST will want. To suggest that, on the lines of the Khalistan referendum, General Paresh, you also announce a referendum on the question of whether Indian Occupied Assam should be an independent country?, SFJ said in its letter.
The SFJ president said that his organization would support the Assam independence referendum and provide all legal support and logistical guidance to the ULFA-I besides campaigning for the cause at the global level and presenting the case before the United Nations. In addition to providing legal assistance.
It is to be noted that the SFJ’s response comes after the ULFA-I’s response to the threat to the Assam Chief Minister.
In a letter to SFJ, the revolutionary group mentioned that claims of torture of pro-Khalistan prisoners in Dibrugarh jail were unfortunate and misconceived.
