Assam: The United Liberation Front of Assam [Independent] (ULFA-I) has written an open letter to pro-Khalistan group “Sikhs for Justice” after issuing a threat to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. In the letter, ULFA-I expressed its dismay at the threat taken by “Sikhs for Justice”, saying it was unfortunate and misguided.
The ULFA-I explained that during the anti-Sikhism wave that spread across India after “Operation Blue Star” in 1984, the Tholgiri people of Assam attacked the Sikhs living in Assam and the west-south-east in any way. Refrain from mental or physical harassment. Asia [WeSEA] region. ULFA-I emphasized that there is no instance of any Sikhs being killed or harassed during this period in Assam or WeSEA, and this is a testament to the customs and generosity of the Tholgiri people of Assam.
Referring to the recent incarceration of eight members of ‘Khalistan Aur Waris Punjab De’ in Dibrugarh Jail, the group also highlighted that there is no room for brutal torture on individuals. The ULFA-I said that they had not seen any news that contradicted the customs of the Tholgiri people of Assam and believed that the situation would remain similar to the environment of 1984.
ULFA-I called upon the leaders of “Sikhs for Justice” to desist from issuing such objectionable remarks and remember the role of the political leaders and people of Assam during the terrible past.
The letter comes amid growing tension between “Sikhs for Justice” and the Assam government over the imprisonment of eight Khalistani activists.
