Guwahati: Nearly three weeks after the suspicious death of sub-inspector Junmoni Rabha, a team of forensic science experts reportedly joined Assam’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday to help in the investigation.
The team, along with CID officials, reached the accident site to examine the accident-prone four-wheeler driven by SI Junmoni Rabha on the night of 16 and 17 May.
The purpose of their inspection was to determine any possible defect in road construction or any other factor that may have led to the accident.
However, no official statement has been issued, and there has been no media discussion about their findings.
On Tuesday, Abhajyoti Rabha and Rupjyoti Kalita appeared at the CID office for questioning by investigating officers. Their names came up during the investigation into the death of Junmoni Rabha.
Some reports said that during the operation, the two officials encountered Junmoni Rabha’s mother.
After the encounter, Junmoni’s mother expressed her loss of faith in the government and the police, citing the lack of a fair investigation due to the involvement of police officials.
He described his days as incredibly difficult.
It is also worth noting that the truck driver involved in the May 16 accident that claimed Junmoni Rabha’s life was granted bail last month. The driver surrendered before the Assam Police CID during the ongoing investigation and was later arrested.
A case was registered against Kumar Pal, along with the truck driver, under Section 279/427/304 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for hitting the vehicle carrying Junmoni Rabha.
