In Gossaigaon, 6 fighters of newly formed rebel group GCLO held

Assam: Videos of youths joining the new armed revolutionary group Greater Behar Liberation Organization (GCLO) have surfaced online.

In the videos that have surfaced, the youths are shown swearing to serve the group until their demand for a separate Kamtapur state is met. Also, they have chanted slogans of Kamtapur and Jai Shivchandi at the end of the video.
In several videos that have surfaced, one can see the newly joining cadres chanting ‘Jai Shivchandi’ which indicates religious connotations for their struggle or the influence of a religious leader behind their demand.
Be that as it may, questions are now being raised whether the GCLO is running under the patronage of an influential religious leader. What is GCLO? Who is directly related to GCLO? Is GCLO i.e. Greater Cooch Behar Liberation Organization formed under the patronage of a religious leader? How did this GCLO suddenly take birth?
It should be noted that by sending a 26-minute video on the day of Shivratri, GCLO had threatened that if their demands were not met, they would take up arms against the Government of India.
Speaking on the lines of the banned militant group Kamtapur Liberation Organization, which has long been demanding a separate Kamtapur state in the tribal belt of Assam and North Bengal, the GCLO fighters reiterated that the struggle for secession will continue. The government is not fulfilling their demand.
Earlier, the banned aggressive outfit Kamtapur Liberation Organization (KLO) renewed its demand for a separate Kamtapur state.

The organization, through a press release on February 17, said that the demand for a separate Kamtapur state will never end and the struggle will continue until the demand is met.
The organization’s press statement added that the demand for a separate Kamtapur state has always been the main concern of the organization, and the leaders of the organization have never ignored it.
Illegal occupation of Lower Kamatapur by Indian forces will never be accepted. No one in the ruling class of India, Assam or Bengal wants to give economic, political rights to our Koch-Kamtapuri people. We will continue our struggle bearing all kinds of failures. The Central Executive of the KLO, demanding a separate state, never passed the Council’s demand for independence. No such announcement was made. And if so, some leaders and workers of the organization are unconstitutionally ignoring the constitutional provisions of the KLO”, the press release from the KLO said.
