Itanagar: Yumken Bagra, a former hostel warden of a government residential school in Karo village of Monigong circle in Shi Yomi district, has been accused of heinous crimes against innocent children for eight years.
Horrific revelations of the rape, molestation and exploitation of children as young as six years old have left the entire region outraged.
The terrifying ordeal began in 2014 when Yamken Bagra played the role of a hostel warden at the school. Over the next eight years, he allegedly subjected the children to unspeakable horrors while they suffered in silence, unable to find a way to escape their torment.
The nightmare finally came to light when a parent filed a complaint with the Monigong police, accusing Bagra of molesting her two children.
Despite being arrested, Bagra managed to get bail. The news of his release further traumatized the children, who were terrified of his threats. Parents and guardians, who had hoped for a better future for their children through education, were devastated to realize the horror their innocent loved ones had suffered.
After the initial complaint, a total of 21 victims found the courage to come forward and share their harrowing experiences.
However, it is feared that the number of victims may be even higher. The accused allegedly used manipulative tactics to control the children and threatened them with dire consequences if they dared to speak.
Victims of both sexes were forced to dance at night, sometimes naked. Bagra subjected him to viewing explicit material on his phone.
The youngest victim was only six years old. In a horrifying incident, a Class 4 student was repeatedly brutally raped by Bagra over the course of a year, further traumatized by forced massaging of her private parts.
Dr. Nasi Koji, who is helping children seek justice, highlights the urgent need for the Guwahati High Court to address the pain and suffering of the victims and their families.
On Monday, July 31, the bail hearing of Yumken Bagra will be held. The matter has drawn the attention of the Guwahati High Court, which itself took cognizance of the shocking allegations of abuse.
As the battle for justice continues, Dr Nasi Koji appealed to the people of the state to get behind the victims and support them in their quest for justice.
It is hoped that the High Court will take action to address the untold suffering these innocent children have endured and ensure that the accused is held accountable for his alleged crimes.
