Severe storm hit Tripura, over 616 houses damaged

Agartala: A total of 616 houses were damaged in Tripura after heavy rains followed by a cyclone in the state on Sunday morning.
According to the detailed report of the State Emergency Operation Center in Agartala, 37 houses were completely destroyed, 125 were severely damaged, and 454 houses were partially damaged.
Out of the eight districts of the state, Sepahijala district was the worst affected, with around 392 houses damaged, including 23 houses in Jampuijala sub-division, 14 houses in Sonamura sub-division, and all in Bishalgarh, the report said. The division includes 355 houses.
Additionally, apart from Sepahijala district, 14 houses were partially and severely damaged in Unakoti, 124 houses in Dhalai district, 21 houses in West district, 33 houses in Khowai, 24 houses in Gomati and only 8 houses in South district houses were damaged.
“Apart from houses, many trees were uprooted, power poles were damaged resulting in power outages, road closures, and vehicles damaged due to fallen trees and power poles,” an official said. We have already removed these barriers and restored normalcy.”
