
Senior police officer caught red-handed while taking 10,000 bribe
Guwahati: Officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam on January 9 caught and arrested a Police Sub-Inspector (UB) red-handed for allegedly demanding bribe from the complainant to release his vehicles.
According to official sources, the anti-corruption team, acting on a special tip-off, laid a trap and extorted Rs 10,000 (a total of Rs 1 against the huge bribe amount) to Sub-Inspector (UB) Chintu Das of Dhaligaon town outpost in Chirang. The tainted bribe money has been recovered from his possession and has been seized accordingly in presence of independent witnesses.
A case has been registered in ACB Police Station on 09/01/2024 vide ACB P.S. Case No. 09/2024 under Section 7(a) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).
Finding sufficient evidence against the accused public servant, he has been arrested in connection with the above referred case.
