Senior leader AAP says party is hunting for 'Honest people' for polls

Aizawl: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is making massive efforts to gain a foothold in Mizoram and will contest the state assembly polls, a party leader said on Friday.

He said that AAP is looking for good and honest people for party nominees in the upcoming assembly elections.
Elections to the 40-member assembly of Mizoram are scheduled to be held later this year.

“We will contest as many seats as possible. We are looking for good people, who have no crime and corruption record for our candidates. We want good and honest people to contest all 40 assembly seats on AAP ticket. invite,” AAP leader in-charge North East Rajesh Sharma told reporters in Aizawl.
Sharma alleged that the people of Mizoram are fed up with the existing system and corruption in the state and want a change.

He said the party would focus on corruption-free governance and was committed to reviving the old pension scheme like Punjab if it came to power in Mizoram.
“Our leader Arvin Kejriwal has testified that change is possible. The change that is being seen in Delhi can also happen in Mizoram,” Sharma said.

He said that the party would give priority to various issues and sectors, which were not addressed by previous governments.
Sharma said the party will work for education reform, improvement of health care scheme, roads, employment generation and corruption free government.

APP established its base in Mizoram in April this year and has been recruiting members ever since.

Party state organizing chairman Andrew Lalrimkema, who accompanied Sharma, said AAP has so far formed 4 party blocks within Aizawl.
