Imphal: A team of the central para-military and Manipur police during counter-militancy operations have destroyed two illegal temporary bunkers suspected to have been used by armed miscreants.
The structures were allegedly used in trading gunfire against their rival warring groups and outfits.
They were demolished in the general area of the Seijang and Mongbung village a few km from the Jiribam District headquarters of Manipur, official reports said.
According to reports, acting on a tip-off, a security force team posted at Jiribam district headquarters jointly led an operation at the Sejang village and JT Road Jiribam district headquarters.
As the team reached the targetted area, the armed miscreants suspected to be militants fled from the scene.
Though an arrest has been made, the team destroyed the illegal structures at their will which took around 3 hours, reports said.
The armed miscreants reportedly took advantage of a higher location from Mungbung and have frequently attacked with guns at the lower areas.
