Manipur: A total of 1,040 weapons, 13,601 arms and 230 bombs of different types have been recovered so far, Manipur Government Adviser (Security) Kuldiep Singh said on Tuesday.
The security advisor said in a release that 15 weapons and 63 ammunitions have been recovered from Tengnoupal and Imphal East districts in the state during the last 24 hours. He added that so far a total of 1040 arms, 13,601 ammunition and 230 different types of bombs have been recovered.
Curfew has been relaxed for 15 hours in Imphal West Imphal-East, Thoubal and Bishnupur district. 12 hours in Kakching and Pherzwal districts and 08-10 hours in neighboring hill districts, Kuldiep said, adding that there is no curfew in six other hill districts.
The advisor also said that movement of essential commodities along NH-37 has been ensured. 253 Imphal-bound laden vehicles depart from Jiribam, 191 Imphal-bound laden vehicles depart from Noni and 361 Jiribam-bound empty vehicles depart from Keithelmanbi, Imphal-West.
On Monday, Governor Anusuiya Uikey visited the relief camps in Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts and interacted with the residents. The adviser added that he also held meetings with CSOs in Churachandpur and Bishnupur.
Kuldiep continued that on Tuesday, the Bihar Chief Minister chaired a VC meeting with SSPs and OSCs of all districts from 11 am.
Senior officers have visited and are setting up camps in vulnerable areas, the adviser said, adding that strict security measures have been taken in all sensitive areas.
Further, a joint team of state and central forces has intensified combing operations in several parts of the state, the adviser said.
Ministers and MLAs of the state are visiting different areas of the state and meeting people at large and in CSOs appealing for peace and normalcy.
Advisor Kuldiep said that the security forces are also holding meetings with CSOs, village heads of various villages and appealing for peace and normalcy, besides carrying out their duties of area control, patrolling.
