An “Indefinite Voluntary Business Shutter Down” would be implemented throughout Nagaland starting on April 24, 2025, according to the Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI). The decision is in response to what the CNCCI refers to as “step-motherly treatment” in the selection of representatives from the District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) to the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). The State Government has allegedly not responded to numerous requests, including a formal letter to the Hon’ble Chief Minister and a news release earlier this month warning of democratic protest if justice is not served by April 20. The confederation said that the closure was called in response to the collective demand of nine District CCIs who felt wronged, adding that “the CNCCI has exhausted all possible means.”
