Imphal: Property worth over Rs 1 crore was destroyed in a horrific fire at Tuibong in Manipur’s Churachandpur district that gutted four residential houses.
An official source said on Wednesday that there were no reports of loss of life or property.
It is said that 4 houses occupied by tenants were completely gutted in the fire.
However, an official of the Fire and Emergency Services said that the cause of the fire is believed to be an electrical short circuit.
As soon as we got the information, several fire tenders reached the affected spot but due to the incident taking place near the busy Tiddim Road of Churachandpur district headquarters, the crowd created obstacles, the official said. Road, our movement was a bit slow but we put out the fire.
The rental house was occupied by tenants and is owned by two persons – namely Ingocha and David Suondinglien, the source said.
Superintendent of Police, Churachandpur, Shrivanand Surve visited the accident spot and took stock of the situation for further investigation, the official said.
Voluntary organizations and local clubs, including the Eagle Club of Churachandpur, extended help and support to the fire victims.
