Morigaon: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday urged BJP workers to make people aware of the work done by the Union government and ensure that the party’s candidates get more votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls to win more seats.
If the BJP government is working for the people but does not manage to win maximum seats, it will not do any good for the saffron party, which is looking to win power at the Center for the third consecutive time in the 2024 elections.
Addressing a meeting of BJP elected representatives in Morigaon, Rijiju said, “We have to work by setting a target for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. We have to ensure that the BJP candidate from this region gets MP.
Morigaon falls under Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency, which was defeated by Congress candidate Bordoloi from BJP in the last elections.
The Union Law Minister asked party leaders to meet people and review the functioning of government schemes, such as construction of toilets, and providing drinking water and LPG connections to every household.
“People should be made aware who has given them these facilities. We are working to win elections. What is the use if we work but still lose?” quipped the MP from neighboring Arunachal Pradesh.
Rijiju, who arrived in Morigaon on Monday night, met old members of the Jan Sangh during the day and attended the Vichar Parivar Samanvay Baithak at the local RSS office here.
He also attended the Prime Minister’s post-Budget webinar during the day on ease of living with technology.
Rijiju is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with government officials and elected representatives before leaving on Wednesday.
