Revolutionary NLFT (BM) Joined by 12 new youth in Tripura

Tripura: In a major development, the National Liberation Front of Tripura Biswamohan Group NLFT (BM) recently recruited 12 new freedom-fighters from the state’s Dhalai district.

The NLFT is an insurgent group that was banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
Intelligence sleuths told that though the NLFT-PD group is very small in number, another group, the NLFT (BM) group, has started regrouping as they recently arrested 12 of their gangs from Dhalai district. New youths have been added.
“Considering the leadership profiling, organizational structure, and information on NLFT (BM) camps, the current strength of NLFT (BM) organizations is around 30 and their leaders are mostly in Bangladesh. NLFT (BM) groups Recently started a recruitment drive in Dhalai district and around 12 youths have been inducted into this group.However another group which is NLFT (PD) is somehow surviving as their numbers are very less. is”, said the source.
When asked about the recent activities in the state, the source said that they are still operating from Bangladesh but some movements of NLFT (BM) groups were seen in some parts of Dhalai district recently.
“They have been suffering from financial crisis for many years. So we have recently witnessed their movements in the Zero Line of Bangladesh and also in Indian areas. They have gone to remote villages to collect money. Some extortion notices have also been sent,” the source said.
Sources added that many cadres have met central paramilitary forces, especially the Assam Rifles to surrender.
Although Assam Rifles has not said anything on the issue of surrender, sources in Assam Rifles have said that they have taken many steps to encourage the terrorists to surrender for their betterment.
“We have taken many steps to help the terrorists who have surrendered in the state. Among them we have started arranging new houses for the surrenderers as their house conditions are very pathetic. So this move will probably encourage others to surrender to join the mainstream”, added the source.
