Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s tableau for the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi this year will showcase the tourism potential of the northeastern state, an official said on Wednesday.
He said that the tableau will highlight the various initiatives taken by the state government to build infrastructure such as road, rail and air connectivity which has helped boost tourism in the state.
Officials from the state’s Information and Public Relations (IPR) department said it would showcase the newly constructed Donyi Polo Airport, the Shingpho Festival and the 1962 War Memorial of Tawang.
He said that during the Republic Day parade on January 26, 36 artistes wearing traditional costumes from different tribes of the state would be part of the programme.
The Donyi Polo Airport in the state capital was opened in November last year and has facilitated the arrival of domestic and international tourists to the state.
The official claimed that the upgradation of civil terminals along with modern landing grounds has also greatly improved the lives of people living in the border state.
“Even remote border areas have been connected with all-weather roads to facilitate movement of citizens and defense personnel and tourists. These measures will be highlighted in the tableau,” he said.
