New Delhi: A Delhi court has granted divorce to Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan from his wife Aesha Mukerji.
Shikhar Dhawan was divorced by his wife Aesha Mukerji. on the grounds of cruelty.
According to the Delhi court, Aesha subjected Dhawan to mental torture by forcing him to live separately from his only son for years.
However, the court refused to issue any order regarding the custody of the couple’s son.
The court also granted Shikhar Dhawan visitation rights to visit his son in India and Australia, apart from video calls.
“As the petitioner is a renowned international cricketer and the pride of the nation, the petitioner has approached the Central Government of India, for its assistance in taking up the issue of meeting/protection of the minor son with his counterpart in Australia. is requested. To visit or communicate regularly with his own son or his permanent custody,” the court said in its order.
“He (Dhawan) has been going through immense agony and pain of being separated from his own son for years through no fault of his own. Although the wife denied the allegation, she said that although she was genuinely with him in India. wanted to stay, however due to her commitment to her daughters from her previous marriage which required her to stay in Australia, she could not come to live in India. He was well aware of her commitment, yet He chose not to contest the claim,” the judge said in the ruling.
The judge said: “Therefore, it is proved that the wife reneged on her assurance to establish a matrimonial home in India after marriage and thus faced a long-distance marriage and separation from her own son for years. suffered severe torture and agony of living.”
