Remotion of Harijan Colony residents, talks to resume on Nov 15
Shillong: The Meghalaya government has decided to invite the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) on November 15 or 16 to discuss the proposed relocation of Harijan colony residents from Them Iew Mawlong.
The development was reported to the Meghalaya High Court on November 8 during the hearing of the matter.
The High Court has directed the HPC to attend the meeting and suggest alternative dates if they are unable to attend on November 15 or 16.
The results of the meeting are to be submitted to the court in the form of a report.
The state government had already agreed to increase the size of individual plots as requested by Harijan Colony residents.
The government had proposed to relocate 342 families on a plot of Shillong Municipal Board land.
