Shillong: Meghalaya Director General of Police (DGP) L R Bishnoi has asked Superintendents of Police of five districts of the West Garo Hills region to reorganize and recruit cadres of the banned revolutionary outfit Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA). A report has been requested on the information about doing.
He asked the SPs to submit their report in a week.
“They have been approached to confirm the contributions (about GNLA refocusing) in their separate regions. After confirmation, they are to present their reports,” DGP Bishnoi told on Tuesday.
The issue became known after an inner reminder by a DSP-positioned official in West Garo Hills looked for activity by all police headquarters to foil endeavors by the disbanded aggressor gathering to refocus and enlist units.
The memo expressed that upwards of 500 youths from different locale of Garo Hills have joined the outfit and few have been shipped off Myanmar for essential guerilla fighting preparation.
The police were directed to keep a close watch on the activities of the surrendered GNLA militants and businessmen who were sympathizers of the outfit in the past.
GNLA freedom-fighters surrendered in batches in 2017 and 2018.
