Rajat Kapoor a Bollywood actor working in Assamese film 'Anur'

Guwahati: Filmmaker Monjul Baruah’’s third feature film in Assamese, Anur:Eyes On Sunshine, Shah Rukh Khan’s much talked about and popular comeback film released today after many struggles to find enough screening space between the release of Pathaan.
Anur, who was previously selected for the 27th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) and the 21st edition of the Dhaka International Film Festival, portrays an elderly and retired teacher, named Anupama Baruah, and her struggle. It tells a very painful story. With loneliness and insecurity of life.
The film is based on a short story by Sahitya Akademi winner Anuradha Sharma Pujaree.
It stars Dr Jahanara Begum as the leading lady alongside Bollywood actor and director Rajat Kapoor, who plays a retired IAS officer in the film.
Expressing his thoughts about the film, actor Rajat Kapoor said, “It’s an emotional story, and well told in my opinion. And it was nice to work with Monjul. He’s very patient, Very giving and very generous.”

“At first I was a bit scared, because he is a very tall actor and most importantly, he is a director himself. Also, he works in Bollywood. So he is in line with our values. It was a very challenging task for us to do,” says director Monjul Baruah while sharing his experiences of directing Rajat Kapoor in Anur.
“Since he (Kapoor) understands the challenges and dynamics of producing and making independent films, he accepted us and cooperated with us professionally, which made the job easier,” Baruah added.

Kapoor, a three-time National Award winner and known for his work in Hindi films and series such as Drishyam, Ghobiyaan, Bheja Fry, Kapoor and Sons, and Scheme 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, plays the role of Loshit Modliar, who is a retired IAS officer with many years of experience working in the district administration of Assam.

Considering the universal themes of the film, the makers decided to cast a non-Assamese personality for the role.

“And Rajat Kapoor liked the script as well as the role,” Baruah told to Media.

“Well the language part was difficult, of course! But luckily I was playing a role that had some language limitations. The language difficulties were also eased by the extreme warmth and kindness of the people who made the film. was given,” recalled the actor.
Sharing her experiences of acting with Rajat Kapoor, Dr. Jahanara Begum said, “He is a very sincere actor and his work culture and realistic acting style was a great learning experience for us. And since Anur There was a sync sound production, so he had to learn dialogues in Assamese for the shoot.
“The production team helped him through it, and he also contributed through development.
Everyone’s mood with his lighthearted, entertaining and uplifting talk. He became part of the family and it was a great atmosphere,” he added.
When asked under whose direction he would like to work in Assam for the second time.
Kapoor replied, “Jahnu Barua saheb.. for sure.”
Released across Assam, Anur: Eyes on Sunshine also stars Boloram Das, Rajashree.
Sharma, Udayan Durrah, Bibhuti Bhushan Hazarika and Bidya Bharati are the role supporting.

Apart from directing films like Mithya, Ankhon Dekhi, Kadakh and the recent RK/RKAY, Kapoor has also worked in Bengali films before venturing into Assamese films.
