
Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on two day visit to Assam
Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to leave for a two-day visit to Assam starting Friday (March 08), during which he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for projects worth a total of Rs 18,000 crore.
Modi’s itinerary includes arriving in Tezpur on Friday (March 08) afternoon, followed by a helicopter ride to Panbari in Kaziranga, where he will spend the night at the Police Guest House near the Kohora range of Kaziranga National Park in Assam.
On Saturday (March 09) morning, the Prime Minister is scheduled to take part in a jungle safari, with both jeep and elephant safaris arranged.
His forest walk is expected to last around two hours.
After the safari, PM Modi will leave for Arunachal Pradesh to attend two scheduled events.
On his return to Jorhat in Assam in the afternoon, he will inaugurate a 125-feet tall “Statue of Bravery” in memory of the legendary Ahom general Lachit Barphukan.
After that, Narendra Modi will visit Meleng Meteli Pothar, where he will formally inaugurate and lay foundation stones for various central and state projects worth around Rs 18,000 crore.
A public meeting will also be held at the venue, during which the Prime Minister will address the assembled audience.
After completing his engagements in Assam, PM Modi will leave for West Bengal.
The visit follows his previous visit to Assam on February 4, during which he launched infrastructure projects worth Rs 11,600 crore.
