Kohima/Aizawl/Gangtok: President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit the three northeastern states of Nagaland, Mizoram and Sikkim on a four-day visit starting Wednesday.
On her first visit to these states after assuming office, she will inaugurate and lay foundation stones of several projects.
Murmu will first arrive in Nagaland’s capital Kohima on Wednesday and will be accorded a civic welcome by the state government.
The President will virtually inaugurate newly constructed government schools, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) roads and the Kohima supermarket, officials said.
On Thursday, the President will pay his respects at the Kohima War Cemetery and visit Kigwema, one of the oldest villages inhabited by the Angami tribe, about 15 km from the state capital.
She will interact with members of rural councils and members of self-help groups there.
The President will address the members of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly in Aizawl on Friday.
Marmu will begin her two-day visit to Sikkim from November 4 and will be accorded a civic welcome in the Himalayan state, officials said.
Atal She will virtually inaugurate the Setu in Rangpo on the Sivok-Gangtok road, the two-lane Chisopani Traffic Tunnel in East Sikkim and the VC Ganju Lama Girls Hostel at Ravongla in South Sikkim.
Murmu also spearheaded projects such as the National Institute of Technology (NIT) at Khamdong in East Sikkim, widening and upgrading of the road from Namchi to Birdhang connecting the West-South districts, the District Hospital at Singtam and the Global Renewal Spiritual Brahma Kumari will keep the foundation center at Namchi in South Sikkim.
Officials added that the President will interact with women achievers at a program in Ravongla on November 5 before flying back to Bagdogra airport in neighboring West Bengal on his way back to New Delhi.
