Anini: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has reiterated his emphasis on preserving and practicing primitive culture.

Participating in the 55th community Reh festival at Anini in Dibang Valley district on Wednesday, Khandu said the Idu Mishmi culture is richer, more artistic and more colorful than many other indigenous cultures.
“The interior embroidery of Idu Mishmi dresses is unparalleled. This wonderful tradition must continue,” he said.

Khandu also reiterated the need for oral use of the local dialects of the region, so that the purity of these languages is not overshadowed by the major languages in popular usage. He commended Idu Mishmi elders and community members for introducing Mishmi language in schools.
Recalling his last visit to the picturesque Dibang Valley headquarters in 2020, in which he was accompanied by Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Khandu said the natural beauty of the district has created a buzz in the film world.

“Dibang Valley is nature’s gift to humanity. Once the nearly 20-km section of Roing-Anini road is completed, not only will the travel time be reduced but it will also bring us a beautiful route, ” They said.

Khandu was optimistic that Dibang Valley would become the most sought-after tourist destination in the state in the near future, especially for nature seekers.
“The state government is aware of this and we will ensure that any infrastructural gaps are filled to encourage tourism here,” he said.
He lauded young entrepreneurs, social media influencers and local lawmaker Mope Mihu who highlighted the tourism potential of the district. However, he advised them to focus on high-end tourism aimed at low-income segments.

“I have been pushing for high level tourism so that our state is not overrun with tourists. Overcrowding can affect our environment and biodiversity. Yes, we need tourism to thrive but at the cost of our environment. No,” asserted Khandu.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister inaugurated 22 projects and laid foundation stone of 4 projects in Anini.

Hosted by local MLA Mopi Mihu, Khandu was accompanied by MLAs Zingnu Namchoom, Nyamar Karbak, Kento Jini, Hayeng Mangfi and Phurpa Tsering on a 3-day visit to Dibang Valley.
