Postpone last rites of Kukis killed in clashes, MHA appealed to ITLF

Imphal: The Union Home Ministry has appealed to the tribal body-Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) to postpone the last rites of those killed in the communal violence in Manipur to a later date.
In a letter, the GoI appealed to all concerned to maintain peace and communal harmony and assured that it would make every effort to resolve the said issue amicably within seven days to the satisfaction of all parties.
Meanwhile, the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) has agreed to delay the burial of 35 people killed in state violence by another 5 days after a long deliberation on the Union Home Minister’s request.
Further, the tribal body demands the state government to legalize the land for burial.
The ITLF also sought written assurance from the MHA on 5 demands, including legalization of the cremation ground at S Boljang in Churachandpur, Manipur. Moreover, not all Meitei state forces should be deployed in all hill districts to protect Kuki-zo communities.
The tribal body also demanded that the cremation would be delayed, the bodies of Kokizo communities lying in Imphal should be brought to Churachandpur.

The inmates of the tribal jail in Imphal should be shifted to other states for their protection.
