Police seized Drugs cost Rs 7 crore in Karbi Anglong : Assam

Diphu: Three persons were arrested after nearly Rs 7 crore cost of banned drugs were seized from two trucks in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, a police officer said on Friday.

He said the arrests and seizures were made late on Thursday night in the Katkhati area near the Assam-Nagaland border.

A vehicle check was conducted in the area and two trucks were stopped based on a tip-off, the officer said.

“During the operation, we intercepted two trucks. We seized 30,000 yaba pills from a truck with Nagaland registration number, and 757.15 grams of heroin packed in 55 soap cases from another truck with Manipur number plate,” he said.
He added that pills and heroin are worth around Rs 7 crore in the international market.

Three persons were arrested, the officer said.

Congratulating the police, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “#AssamAgainstDrugs Yet a huge catch by @assampolice! @karbianglongpol Police stopped two trucks from neighboring states and recovered 757.15 grams of heroin. Confiscated containing 30,000 yaba tablets and 55 cases of soap. Also arrested three suspects. Very high.”
