Guwahati: Three freedom fighters of different outfits were arrested by the police in Thoubal, Manipur on Wednesday evening.
They were arrested along with a hand grenade, Rs 50,000 in cash, a car, and three mobile phones in two separate operations.
A joint team of the central and state police based on intelligence inputs from different sources carried out an operation at Papal Lamkhai in Thoubal district and arrested two active freedom fighters of proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive (PREPAK-PRO).
They are identified as Wahengbam Sanathoi Singh (21) and Huirem Opendro Singh (44).
The following items were recovered from their possession: four mobile phones, Rs 50,000 in cash, and one car.
In another case, the joint team arrested one active member of the proscribed Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL) organisation identified as Kshetrimayum Romajit Meitei (32) from Waithou Sangomsang area, Thoubal.
From his possession, one HE-36 Hand Grenade and one phone with a sim card were recovered.
The arrested individuals and seized items are now in the custody of the Manipur police for further formalities, the report added.
