Manipur government to act on 13 suggestions directed by SC

Imphal: The Supreme Court has refused to hear a plea filed by the Manipur Tribal Forum (MTF) seeking army protection for people belonging to the Kuki community.

Dismissing the petition, the Supreme Court bench said that it would be inappropriate for the apex court to issue such directions to the army or paramilitary forces.
However, the Supreme Court said it would press the Center and the Manipur government to ensure the safety of the lives of the citizens of the state.

The Supreme Court bench which dismissed the petition was headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud.
CJI DY Chandrachud also requested all stakeholders to ensure that peace and normalcy return to the state of Manipur as soon as possible.

He also urged all parties involved in the conflict not to indulge in spreading any kind of hate speech.
