Agartala: Former Tripura Congress president Pejush Kanti Biswas, who recently joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC), was on Sunday appointed as the new state president of the TMC.
Tripura High Court senior advocate Paige Kanti Biswas had resigned from the post of Tripura Congress president in August last year.
On December 7 this year, Pejush Kanti Biswas joined Tripura TMC in the presence of party national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
“I sincerely thank Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee for appointing me as the state president of the party. I will try my best to live up to their expectations,” newly appointed Tripura TMC chief Pejush said.
He further said that the TMC will contest the Tripura assembly elections next year.
Pejush said he met TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee and discussed the party’s election strategy for the Tripura elections.
He assured me of all possible support to remove the BJP-led government in Tripura, he said.
