Patton: state govt is convincing Center to expemt tribals from UCC

Wokha: Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton said the state government is trying its best to convince the central government to exempt tribal-majority areas from the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
Patton, who is also the leader of the BJP Legislature Party in the Nagaland Assembly, said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured that not only tribal-majority areas but also Christian-majority areas will be exempted from the UCC.
According to an official report on July 10, Patton said this while addressing the general conference of the Lotha Officers Association in Wokha on July 8.
He urged the officers belonging to Lotha Naga community to serve the people with sincerity and dedication wherever they are serving as they are the ambassadors of the community. He also sought the support of the Officers’ Forum to bring about change.
Patton further assured the association that the legislators of Wokha district would always support and cooperate with it.

Agriculture Adviser Mhathung Yanthan exhorted the officers to carry out their duties with determination and dedication.
“The door is always open for any kind of help,” Yanthan told the association.

Addressing the gathering, Naga People’s Front MLA Achumbemo Kikon quoted Otto von Bismark as saying, “With bad laws and good civil servants, it is still possible to govern, but with bad civil servants the best possible laws.” Can’t help it either.”
Kikon urged the officers to work together with the elected members for better development and progress.

Adviser to the Chief Minister Dr. Chumben Murry in his speech appealed to all sections to be law abiding citizens and cooperate with the government for the development and progress of our society.
