Pangal driver death case Joint Action Committee seeks CBI probe

Imphal: A Joint Action Committee (JAC) raised its voice against the alleged brutal killing of Sangomsumpham Sahir, also known as Sana.
The JAC organized a public meeting at the Kshetrigao Community Hall to protest the brutal killing of Sahir.

The event was attended by representatives of AMMSO, PSO, CPCM, UMPC, MMWO, AMPACO, AMMOCOC, and all Kwakta Coordination Committees, where several resolutions were passed.
In the meeting, the JAC unanimously demanded that all the accused be arrested within 48 hours from today, i.e. 23/10/2023, so that the family of Sangomsumpham Sahir can get justice.
Moreover, if the authorities concerned do not arrest all the accused within 48 hours, the JAC will not find the body of Sangomsumpham Sahir.
According to the JAC, it was found that there was certain negligence on the part of the office-in-charge of Lamlai Police Station, Imphal East, when it came to registering the FIR/su moto case/police diary related to mob violence. . At Takhel Village, Imphal East.
Therefore today’s public meeting has requested the authorities concerned to take appropriate action against all the officers and staff of Lumli Police Station, Imphal East without any delay.
The JAC also demanded that the case be handed over to competent authorities like CBI/NIA.
It is to be mentioned here that the two Pangal drivers, Sahir of Kshetrigao and Abir of Sora, are hired by two Meitei women, Sarabanu (Ibemcha Leibujam) and Victoria Leibujam, to carry their cow, which is handed over to the sister. . of Victoria Leibujam, wife of Nanao Thounaojam of Manbi Leibujam, Takhel, Imphal East, when Victoria left home in May.
Six cows were handed over by Victoria Leibujam to her sister Manbi Leibujam when ethnic violence broke out in the state.
This was because Victoria Leibujam’s husband is a Kuki man, and she lived with her Kuki husband in Takhil, Imphal East before the violence between the Kuki and Meitei communities broke out.
Additionally, in May, her husband fled to Mot Bung in Kong Pokpi District due to ongoing ethnic violence. Victoria Labojam left her home in Takhil and stayed with her sister Sarabanu in Imphal.
On October 19, Sarabanu and Victoria Leibujam went to Takhil to collect their cow, which was entrusted to her sister Manbi Leibujam, when she left home in Takhel.
Unfortunately, that day, he was killed by the people of Takhel accusing him of carrying goods for the Kuki people.
Due to severe injuries sustained during the lynching, one of the vehicle drivers, Sahir, died on October 22 at the Raj Mediasti Hospital in Imphal.
