Hyderabad: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi slammed the Assam government, demanding to know who will take care of the girls who were left behind after the state government’s crackdown on child marriage.

Talking to newsmen, he said that it is the failure of the state government which has been silent for the last six years.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday asserted that the campaign against child marriage launched by the state police yesterday will continue till the next assembly elections in 2026.
“BJP is ruling Assam for the last six years. What are you doing for the last six years? This is your failure for the last six years. You are sending them to jail. Now who will take care of these girls?” CM (Himanta Biswa Sarma) does? Marriage will remain there. According to an official statement by the Assam government, over 2,250 people have been arrested in the state till Saturday in a crackdown on child marriage.
A total of 2,258 people have been arrested so far based on 4,074 FIRs registered against child marriages across the state.
According to the state government, those who marry girls below the age of 14 will be booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, and those who marry under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. Cases will be filed. Girls in the age group of 14-18 years.
“You (Assam government) have already booked 4,000 cases and are in the process of booking another 4,000. Why are they not opening new schools? Open new schools. The BJP government in Assam is a biased government against Muslims,” ​​he said. He further alleged.

He asked why the state government is not giving land to landless people in Lower Assam unlike Upper Assam.
