Over unfulfilled point, AYO calls for non-cooperation with NSCN (K)

Kohima: The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) has reaffirmed its decision to continue its non-cooperation with the NSCN (K) Khango, citing the latter’s failure to address a key point in a previously agreed-upon four-point agreement.

The organizationโ€™s stance follows a marathon meeting held on August 20 between AYO and representatives of the NSCN (K) Khango, facilitated by the Ceasefire Monitoring Group/Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFMG/CFSB).

According to the AYO, both parties had agreed to a four-point resolution during the August meeting. However, NSCN (K) Khango has yet to fulfill Point No. 3, which stipulated that “The NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango shall make it known to the public the identity of the person alias ‘Max Naga’ and shall initiate appropriate disciplinary action against him on or before 15 days.” In exchange, AYO would withdraw its non-cooperation and recall Angami workers from the NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango.

In a press release issued on October 21, the AYO expressed regret that despite the assurances provided by the NSCN (K) Khango during the discussions, the group has “failed on its part to honour the gentlemen’s agreement between the two parties.”

As a result, AYO, in consultation with senior leaders and representatives from the four Angami ranges (SAYO, NAYO, WAYO, and CYO), unanimously decided to uphold the August 20 resolution. “The non-cooperation with the NSCN (K) Khango shall continue till Point No. 3 of the agreement is fulfilled,” the statement maintained.

The AYO had initially engaged with the NSCN (K) Khango in response to an appeal made by the group, conveyed through a letter from the Special Secretary to Hukato Vusshe, General Secretary of NSCN/GPRN (K) Khango. The letter assured that the NSCN delegation, which included Kilo Kilonser Visheto Yeptho and CFSB Supervisor A. Imyapangba Ao, had full authority to negotiate on behalf of the NSCN (K) Khango.
