Aizawl: Representatives of Meitei community in Mizoram met Governor Dr. Hari babu Kambhampati at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday to express gratitude for his support towards their community in the state.
However, on the same day, a press conference was held by the All Assam Manipuri Youth Association where it issued a warning against the MNF-led state government.
In a press statement, they said “AAMYA appeals to the ruling Mizo National Front to withdraw within three days. 14/06/2023, their support for a separate administration for the Kuki-zo people in Manipur.” Otherwise AAMYA will be bound to initiate some serious steps very soon which will force the whole of Mizoram to seriously study its topography like never before.
They expressed that while he appreciated the humanitarian delivery of food from Mizoram to Churachandpur, the state should be a broker of peace rather than a “malign patron of kukis”.
“Suggesting and supporting a separate administration for the KUKI-ZO people in Manipur is not only ridiculous but also alarming for India. So, a peaceful solution to Manipur’s problems is on Mizoram’s table. If Mizoram does this If the appeal is ignored, the Meitei-Kuki fight will continue,” the statement said.
They observed that sooner or later, the Kukis would succumb to death as the Meiteis were superior on the battlefield once organized for battle.
“But there will be heavy casualties on both sides. So, the role of the Mizoram Chief Minister is very important and he is requested to use his greatest wisdom. To end the conflict, the integrity of Manipur is at stake. All political equality must remain constant,” said the statement, which was signed by Kundal Singha, chief adviser, working president Ramin Luang and working general secretary Nongpok Nganba.
On June 8, the ruling Mizo National Front Party had spoken in support of the 10 Kuki MLAs’ demand for a separate administration. The statement was made at a press conference called by Mizo National Youth Front Vice President Zodinpuia.
The Mizoram BJP party has also spoken in support of the tribal MLA’s demand for a separate administration. Party officials passed a unanimous resolution saying, “We find the demand for separate administration of 10 MLAs reasonable, as their lives are in danger in Manipur.”
Meanwhile, in their meeting with the Governor, Meitei community leaders in Mizoram thanked the YMA, student leaders and civil societies for supporting their community in the state.
They expressed their grief and sorrow over the unfortunate situation in the state of Manipur and appealed to the higher authorities to remain calm and intervene immediately to find a meaningful solution through peaceful and peaceful dialogue.
