Agartala: The Tripura unit of the Congress will hold a rally here on April 16 to protest against Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha, party state president Birajit Sinha said.
He told on Monday that thousands of Congress workers would gather here on April 16 to participate in the protest rally.
Sinha said that protest programs would also be held in Kailashhar in Unakoti district and Udaipur in Gomati district on April 20 and 30.
The Tripura Pradesh Congress president expressed concern over the post-poll violence that continues in the northeastern state even a month after the election results were announced.
The BJP seems to have learned no lesson from the people’s verdict in Tripura in the 2023 assembly elections with over 61 percent voters wanting change. They have managed to form the government by securing only 39% of the votes…”, he said.
Sinha also demanded disciplinary action against BJP MLA Yadav Lal Nath for allegedly watching an obscene video on his mobile phone in the Assembly on March 24.
“The ruling party MLA’s action has damaged the sanctity of the assembly. The Speaker should take immediate notice of his misconduct and initiate disciplinary action against the legislator.”
