New Delhi: The Congress party has criticized the Narendra Modi-led central government over the fresh tension in the tension-hit northeastern state of Manipur.

Violent protests erupted in the Valley areas of Manipur on Tuesday (September 26) over the brutal killing of two MET students by suspected Kuki militants.
Senior Congress leaders have once again taken up arms against the Modi-led BJP government at the Center over the killing of two young students in Manipur.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said: “Children are the worst victims of racial violence. It is our duty to do everything possible to protect them. The heinous crimes being committed in Manipur are beyond words, yet they are being allowed to continue unabated.
Priyanka Gandhi said that the central government should be ashamed of its inaction.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh slammed Narendra Modi over the tension in Manipur, saying the PM is “only concerned about grabbing power”.

“The Prime Minister is roaming around the states leaving behind his trademark trail of lies, abuse and insults. Why he can’t find a day to visit Manipur is beyond comprehension,” Jairam Ramesh said.
He added: “An appalling video has come out that makes a complete mockery of the usual claims. But as far as Manipur is concerned, the Prime Minister is not swayed or swayed.”

Criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi over fresh tensions in Manipur, Congress leader Dr Ajoy Kumar said: “PM ‘refuses’ to visit Manipur! PM refuses to talk about Manipur” Refused! Prime Minister ‘refused’ to establish peace in Manipur! Prime Minister ‘refused’ to end BJP’s ‘politics of hate’ in Manipur!
Notably, at least 50 students, mostly women, were injured when Manipur police fired teargas and fake bombs to disperse thousands of students, who took to the streets of Imphal on Tuesday Sept 26 staged a dharna at the gate of the Raj Bhavan.

The students were demanding speedy justice against the killing of two school students.
Hundreds of students from various educational institutions erected roadblocks at various strategic locations in Imphal Valley.

Students of CC Higher Secondary School blocked the road leading to the Chief Minister’s office. The protesting students later stormed the gate of Raj Bhavan where they staged a sit-in.
Police fired tear gas and fake bombs to disperse the protesters at various places in Imphal city.

Injured students were rushed to RIMS, JNIMS, Raj Medicity and other private hospitals.

The students took to the streets after photos of the bodies of two students missing since July 6 – Phijam Hemjit (20) and Hijam Linthongambi (17) – surfaced on social media.Both the missing, now dead students belonged to the Meitei community in Manipur.

According to the timeline shown in the photos that went viral on social media, the photos were taken on July 8 – two days after she went missing.

Luwangbi, after attending her coaching class, later went out with the barber for a ride on her KTM bike on July 6. She has not returned home since.
